Black Mountain Viewpoint
June 14 - 16, 2013
Day One: A gentle three- to four-hour hike/ski/snowshoe across open meadows, through treed cutlines and along a creek bed to arrive at the cabins. The route in may vary based on prevailing conditions but will always be at a gentle pace and rolling terrain with stunning views and a high probability of encountering the local wildlife.
Day Two: After a hearty breakfast, we head across the creek and up a cutline towards Snow Creek. We will reach the high point by lunchtime and will be rewarded with stunning views of the Big Horn Mountains to the west and as far as Nordegg to the east. After lunch, we will wind our way back down to the cabins via a series of animal trails.
Day Three: A leisurely breakfast will set us up for the route home via an open meadow frequented by moose and elk. We will also take opportunities to stop to appreciate and photograph the myriad of wildlife and flora encountered along the way.
